Framed was on the radio and The CTO Show

If I revealed how many interviews I sat for last week, you probably wouldn’t believe me. Just as I was preparing to coast into the warmer months without looking at my sales numbers every three hours, I began fielding a lot more interest in my life’s work, Framed: A Villain’s Perspective on Social Media. This is reflected in sales volume, too. Saturday and Sunday were the two best days for organic sales (sales not attributed to ads, guilt-tripping my friends, or promotional buys) since early March.

The CTO Show with Mehmet Gonullu

One of my favorite conversations so far was on Mehmet Gonullu’s CTO Show. In one retelling, I was the “CTO” of Shark Social, and I’m glad Mehmet found me to be a worthy guest. He published the episode a few days ago.

Our hourlong conversation covered many different topics, guided and informed by Mehmet’s own experience in the space and advanced views on emerging trends in technology.

We covered topics such as my journey to the “dark side,” what makes social media platforms susceptible to misuse in their early days, customer psychology and social proof, AI, protecting children from addictive technology, and plenty of other stuff.

I got my money back from eBookFairs

In my April 3rd post, I referenced an editorial review service that I thought might have been a “scam.” I paid, I got nothing, my emails went unanswered.

Today, I’ll state that I still don’t know what eBookFairs was supposed to be, but PayPal resolved the dispute in my favor.

I tried to start a discussion on Reddit, but this service doesn’t seem to be well known amongst independent authors. Hopefully, that’s that. I’ll share information on other services I purchased as I wrap up the launch campaign here, but since so few of my subscribers are published authors or aspiring authors, I’ll focus on things with wider appeal.

Rich on Tech

I never expected to be a guest on a radio show. On Saturday, Rich DeMuro interviewed me during ten-minute feature spot on his weekly Rich on Tech broadcast. My appearance is between the 1:35:30 and 1:45:00 marks.

Rich’s breadth of experience is awe-inspiring, and his ability to adapt to each guest in a live format is truly a special skill, especially because he’s covering everything from consumer products to software innovations.

Being “on the radio” reminded me of my father, who hosted his own radio show for more than twenty years. Broadcasting demands a unique skillset which is best developed over a long period of time. Hopefully, years of talking to myself prepared me for opportunities like this, and I hope I made my old man proud.

The Podcast Roadmap

Framed isn’t exactly a “new release” anymore (at least, it’s no longer eligible for the “New Release” rankings on Amazon). It’s still battling for the top sales rank for “Social Aspects of the Internet” (it’s currently #2), and with each new interview, I feel even more strongly that it will go down as one of the best “social media” books of 2025.

If you haven’t already, leave an Amazon review and a Goodreads review. You can help get my book into more hands, and that will help me continue to ascend the podcast ladder. I’ve also enlisted a few influencers in the book review space to help move things along. They’re a tough bunch to deal with, those influencers, but I should have some content to share later in May.

If you personally know a podcast host who needs to have me on, please make the connection. I’d be happy to talk, and, no, I don’t charge a fee. I barely have anything to sell considering the razor thin profit margin of my book.

Although I’m anticipating sharing at least two big updates in May, it’s hard to project podcast publication dates. Some of these shows are so popular that they’ve agree to host me but I won’t sit for the interview until September. Others found the time to interview, but won’t publish the episodes until…October.

It’s a tough game, but I’m playing it, and I’ll make sure to share every appearance here with my subscribers. Thanks for reading.
