I'm selling my book for a dollar
Framed will be released on February 28th and presale interest is strong
I’m Tim O’Hearn and this is my first post on Beehiiv, the new content platform I’ll be using (don’t worry—my blog still exists!).
When I launched presales for my book, Framed: A Villain’s Perspective on Social Media last week, I was pretty sure that my parents would buy it. A lot of other people ended up buying it, too. Within days, it reached #1 for “Social Aspects of the Internet.” Everyone’s support means a lot to me and now I feel like I’d be letting people down if I didn’t keep this rolling.
As I battled other new releases for the top spot, I noticed that most of them were listed for the lowest-possible price, either $0.99 or $2.99, depending on the royalty scheme. Framed was listed at $7.99 and it was beating most of them. I read their blurbs, I researched the authors—I’m convinced I’ve written the best book.
Now I have the best price, too. I’ve decided to list Framed at $0.99 through its release on the 28th. Why would I spend more money on advertisements when I could make the book more accessible to those who actually want to read it? Everyone who has supported me since 2016 (or earlier) deserves this. Everyone who already preordered will only be charged $0.99 once the book is released.
I didn’t spend years writing a book with some grand vision of getting rich. I just want people to read it, and this is the lowest possible barrier while still covering some of my costs (and shuttling me to the paperback launch in early March).
Soon, I’ll be officially announcing a giveaway for everyone who has preordered. Once you reserve your copy, respond to this email with proof and I’ll send you a special chapter—one that cannot be commercially published.
Thanks for reading. By the end of this month you’ll have over 100,000 more words to read. And—this is the new direction for this mailing list. You can always unsubscribe, but wouldn’t you rather be able to one day tell people “I followed Tim O’Hearn when his newsletter had less than 500 subscribers!”?
